Whew!\u00a0 It\u2019s been a busy few months! \u00a0 I\u2019m currently in day 10 of the interviews series www.theaccidentalartistonline.com<\/a> and am so happy to get all of the feedback! \u00a0 Please if your watching the interviews send feedback to my email. \u00a0 I would love to hear what you think about the interviews! \u00a0 Oh and I know we are all busy\u2026. I find time to listen to the interviews as I get ready in the morning or as I work out. \u00a0 It keeps me on the treadmill the full time!\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

Watching the interviews myself and hearing your comments inspired me to FINALLY<\/i><\/b> create a painting I have been thinking about for over a year. \u00a0 I love Day of the Dead more than the\u00a0 normal person and my husband and I bought a Day of the Dead sculpture on our 15th wedding anniversary.\u00a0 \u00a0 We also bought a little day of the dead dog and a little girl to complete our little family.<\/p>\n

So\u2026 my goal has been to turn my little family into this style of painting. \u00a0 Oh, and lately I\u2019ve been teaching my high school students mixed media and loving the outcome\u00a0 so I\u2019m going to turn this into a little mixed media\u00a0 project! \u00a0 I use Margaret Keane\u2019s advice and draw a little thumbnail of my vision first. \u00a0 Then\u2026.<\/p>\n

The first part is always so fun! \u00a0 <\/b>Taking a large blank canvas out of the package and imagining the possibilities! \u00a0 This canvas is 24X36 and takes up most of my dining room table. \u00a0 My daughter is watching me paint and giving me pointers from time to time\u2026 \u201cmom\u2026 why don\u2019t you\u00a0 add this here or make that color more like this\u201d. \u00a0 She is for sure my little art critic.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

So\u2026 now it\u2019s late. \u00a0 Pixie is in bed and Bobby is watching TV.\u00a0 So I put in my earbuds and get to work! \u00a0 There is nothing like having some Jamey Johnson singing in your ear while your working on a painting!\u00a0 (Yes, I\u2019m country! AND he is amazing!!!)\u00a0 <\/i><\/p>\n

I\u2019m experimenting with a few things so I use bubble wrap<\/b> (a technique Pixie taught me when making mermaid tales) for texture. \u00a0 When I lay the bubble wrap down on the wet paint it picks up the colors and then I can move that to other areas of the canvas! \u00a0 I love it! \u00a0 Next I use some old ink I had in my art studio and just drip in onto the canvas. \u00a0 I notice that when I use the blow dryer it goes EVERYWHERE\u2026. so not sure if I\u2019m going to\u00a0 like that after all.<\/p>\n

I experiment with throwing some glitter shavings into the paint.\u00a0 I have more\u00a0 layers to add so it really doesn\u2019t shine yet.\u00a0 \u00a0 Then I use Aleena\u2019s glue to add a some flowers and the word GRATITUDE. \u00a0 I\u00a0 am so thankful for my family. \u00a0 I want this project to be meaningful for me and to represent my family so I\u2019m adding elements that I love and my family loves. \u00a0 \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

I mean\u2026 isn\u2019t that what art<\/b>\u00a0<\/b> is all about!\u00a0 \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n
