This weekend I was teaching a painting class at The Covered Bridge Inn in Weatherford, TX. \u00a0 Wow, this place is amazing!\u00a0 \u00a0 The house is gorgeous and the owners Sandra & Jim are so sweet!\u00a0 \u00a0 Oh, and the food\u2026.I just can\u2019t get enough of their cooking! \u00a0 I told the owners I\u2019m going to bring my whole family and start hovering outside around dinner time like a stray dog looking for scraps!<\/p>\n

The food is THAT good!!! \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

Anyway, the reason I write today is because of a lady named Betty.\u00a0 \u00a0 She is 70 years old and was in my painting class this weekend\u2026. barely<\/b>!<\/p>\n

What I mean by barely\u2026 is because she didn\u2019t even sit down to paint until about 10 minutes after we started.\u00a0 \u00a0 (The class was a surprise by one of the church goers)\u00a0 I walked over to her as she was taking pictures of the group painting and asked \u201cAre you going to paint with us?\u201d<\/p>\n

She said \u201cNo, I get so much anxiety and I can\u2019t do it!\u201d\u00a0 \u00a0 I could see the hurt in her eyes. \u00a0 She was almost tearing up.\u00a0 She mentioned that it goes way back when people would make fun of her about her art when she was young.<\/p>\n

I excitedly said<\/p>\n

\u201cLET\u2019S CHANGE YOUR OPINION OF ART TODAY!\u201d \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

After some encouragement and hesitation she began to paint!\u00a0 She was really into it! \u00a0 She played with the colors\u2026 mixed a new turquoise color and had a blast adding finishing touches! \u00a0 She was beaming!<\/p>\n

Now, this is why I LOVE teaching art!!!!<\/b> \u00a0<\/b> I love seeing someone who has never painted have fun. \u00a0 I love seeing how painting can help heal the soul. \u00a0 I love seeing the unexpected person come just because a friend dragged her along and freak out at the end because she did so well. \u00a0 I love seeing people who have painted their whole life let loose and just ENJOY THE PROCESS!\u00a0 \u00a0 Don\u2019t worry so much about what it looks like\u2026. Enjoy how the process makes you feel!\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n
