Hi Creative Souls,<\/p>\n

Do you take family vacations?\u00a0 \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

Do you dream up what your vacation will look like in your head and then become disappointed after it\u2019s over because it\u2019s nothing like you thought it would be? \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

Let me tell you a little story about one of our first vacations after we came back to Texas.<\/p>\n

We decided on Houston.<\/b> \u00a0 My husband grew up going to space camp in Houston and Alabama so it was always a really great memory for him. \u00a0 He wanted to pass along his NASA knowledge as we visited Houston Space Center.<\/p>\n

Our plan was to visit NASA and then go to the pier close by that had a rollercoaster on it. \u00a0 I was so excited to have 3 full days of family time and enjoying each others company.<\/p>\n

Well, day one\u2026 NASA. \u00a0 Oh my\u2026 It\u2019s like a forgotten lost city of very few visitors and not enough upkeep. \u00a0 My husbands memories were extremely destroyed as we walked around the facilities. \u00a0 We made the best of it and tried to erase the experience from our memory.<\/p>\n

Then the next day we decided to go to the pier with the roller coaster on it. \u00a0 Pixie is begging to ride the rollercoaster!\u00a0 \u00a0 We are excited because it\u2019s her first one. \u00a0 She BARELY makes the height limit and we go buy the tickets. \u00a0 After about 30 minutes in line we are finally to the front. \u00a0 To my surprise she totally freaks out and decides LAST minute that she doesn\u2019t want to ride. \u00a0 I look at Bobby and he looks at me\u2026\u00a0 It\u2019s in that very moment that I ask the worker if she doesn\u2019t want to ride can she stand on the other side and wait for us.\u00a0 \u00a0 The \u201ctrusting\u201d <\/i>17 year old says sure and I leave my child on the side of the roller coaster.<\/p>\n

As we are buckled in my brain starts to panic!\u00a0 \u00a0 What are we thinking? \u00a0 We just locked ourselves into a roller coaster as we have our 5 year old crying next to sunglasses and water bottles.\u00a0<\/b> I then see the worker (as we are moving slowly) ask my daughter to step outside the gate please. \u00a0 The roller coaster is about to take off.<\/p>\n

All I can think is \u201cWHAT WERE WE THINKING!!!??\u201d \u00a0<\/b> <\/span>We allowed our daughter – ONE and only child to be monitored by a 17 year old who is not even watching her as she waits outside a gate that ANYONE can get too!<\/p>\n

So the entire rollercoaster I am frantic. \u00a0 I can\u2019t even enjoy the ride for the thought of how bad of parents we are and how my daughter has possibly been taken by some crazy person.<\/p>\n

When we pull up and I see my daughter sitting on the step my heart rejoices! \u00a0 I know that she is okay!<\/p>\n

But she\u2019s hysterically crying!<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

We jump off the ride and go to see what\u2019s wrong.\u00a0 She\u2019s sad that she didn\u2019t go on the ride. \u00a0 I look at Bobby and he say\u2019s \u201cshe should have went when she had the chance\u201d. \u00a0 I say \u201cbut she\u2019s still little and learning how to conquer her fears. \u00a0 Let\u2019s get another ticket and let her try again.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another bad decision\u2026.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

So, as we wait in the long line again, we decide that my husband should ride with her. \u00a0 I now wait by the sunglasses and water bottles as they enjoy her very first roller coaster ride.\u00a0 \u00a0 My husband and I are HUGE adrenaline junkies so this is exciting for us\u2026 our only child riding her very FIRST roller coaster!<\/p>\n

As she comes around the corner she has the BIGGEST grin on her face!\u00a0 \u00a0 My husband, not so much!\u00a0<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

She\u2019s telling me all about it! \u00a0 She\u2019s jumping up and down so happy and excited that she just conquered her fear!\u00a0 I\u2019m celebrating with her and hugging her.\u00a0 \u00a0 I look over at my husband and he has a troubling look on his face.<\/p>\n

As Pixie plays a game he begins to tell me\u2026 \u201cHeidi, she almost flew out!\u00a0 I had to hold onto her the ENTIRE time! \u00a0 She slid down and was almost under the seat and I held her as tight as I could in a headlock position!\u201d<\/p>\n

All I could think was THANK GOD he rode with her. \u00a0 I know my strength wouldn\u2019t have held her in.<\/p>\n

Wow, sometimes an award needs to be given out for how many stupid things you can do in one evening!\u00a0 <\/b>\u00a0 Not only did we almost get her kidnapped, but we almost allowed her to fly out of her very first roller coaster!<\/p>\n

Parents of the year – right here!\u00a0<\/span> <\/span>\u00a0<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

The reason I\u2019m telling you all of this is because, I like to overshare, but y\u2019all know that already!<\/p>\n

But really\u2026 It\u2019s because vacations can sometimes be REALLY overrated! \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

That\u2019s why this spring break I\u2019m having a \u201cstaycation\u201d. \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

Not just a \u201cstay around my city and do things\u201d, but STAY at home and create!\u00a0 \u00a0 Sometimes just having time at home without obligations can be the most relaxing vacation.<\/p>\n

Anyway, I hope this email \/ blog post finds you well! \u00a0 If you are about to have your spring break I hope you take time for yourself! \u00a0 Enjoy the little things!<\/p>\n

AND ALWAYS find time to CREATE! \u00a0 \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n
